Sam’s journey started over 30 years ago when her mum bought her a sewing machine while she was pregnant, as she couldn’t afford maternity clothes. She dabbled in and out of sewing for years, but her true obsession kicked in with the start of The Great British Sewing Bee and discovering the incredible online sewing community. This led her to not only start her blog but also her YouTube channel, where she shares practical tips, pattern reviews, and tutorials to help others on their sewing journey.

Sam’s life is all about balance, filled with the things she loves—sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading, and long walks in the countryside with her rescue Springer Spaniel, Rogue. Since launching her blog and YouTube channel, Sam has been able to take Frugalisama to the next level by offering sewing and craft workshops in Horbury, just outside Wakefield, West Yorkshire. This is such exciting news for anyone local who wants to join in on the fun! The workshops include beginner and intermediate sewing, dressmaking, and even Sewcials—community sessions where everyone can sew and socialise together. Sam also offers sessions on learning new fibre-related crafts, making her studio a welcoming and educational hub for crafters of all levels.

Although her website is currently undergoing a revamp, you can still find all her classes available through Eventbrite—and I can’t wait to see what new things are in store once the site is updated! The idea of a community space dedicated to helping people get started with sewing or improve their skills is exactly what makes the sewing world so special. It’s all about connection, growth, and creativity.
