I haven’t written a blog post in ages, so here we are.

Lately I’ve been seeing the most gorgeous little bunnies everywhere, all dressed up with tiny outfits, dollhouse bits and all sorts of adorable accessories. I started thinking about getting something similar for my granddaughter Violet, who’s six, as a little Easter present. But honestly… the prices were extortionate.

With how quickly toys come and go these days, I didn’t really want to spend a fortune on something that might be loved for five minutes and forgotten. So instead of investing lots of money, I decided to invest a bit of time.

A couple of weeks ago, I was in Chorleywood with a friend and came across the sweetest little bunny in a quaint little shop for just £5. I bought it straight away, thinking it would make the perfect Easter gift if I could create something handmade to go with it.

So today I dusted off the sewing machine, spent a couple of hours scrolling Pinterest for inspiration, and came up with this little make: a tiny sleeping bag made from beautiful ditsy yellow floral fabric and soft shearling. But I decided not to stop there. I turned the sleeping bag into an actual little bag too, so Violet can take her bunny wherever she goes.

I made it all from scraps I already had, which makes it even more satisfying somehow. There’s something so lovely about turning leftover bits of fabric into something with real meaning.

I really hope she loves it as much as I do.

And, if I’m honest, just getting the machine out and making something again made me feel really good. It reminded me how much I love sewing when I actually give myself permission to do it. Being self-employed, it’s far too easy to feel like I should always be working, always be doing something productive, always be chasing the next thing.

But this has made me think I’m going to force myself not to work over the Easter weekend. I want to spend time doing the things I love, spend time with my family, and sew a little more too.

Sometimes a small project is exactly what you need. 💛
