The Story Behind Haberdasheroo – My Sewing Directory Dream ✂️

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you’ll know sewing is my happy place – but behind the scenes I’ve also been working on something else that’s been bubbling away for years. And I’m finally ready to spill the sequins… ✨

I’ve always thought it was far too hard to find everything we need as sewists in one place. One minute I’m trawling through Google for haberdashery shops, the next I’m buried in Facebook groups trying to track down a class, and then hopping across social for inspiration. Exhausting, right? I couldn’t help but wonder – why isn’t there one proper home for all of this in the UK?

That’s when Haberdasheroo was born. 🧵 https://haberdasheroo.com/

Now, I’ll be honest – I’ve only ever dabbled with basic websites before, but somewhere along the way I decided to teach myself how to build it. Let’s just say it’s been a massive learning curve, lots of late nights, and a fair few glasses of prosecco along the way 🍾. (Note to self: never cut into fabric after 9pm… or after prosecco! Lesson learned. 😅)

It’s taken me a year longer than I first hoped (life has a way of adding detours, doesn’t it?), but I’m finally getting there. Haberdasheroo is now live in its beta phase, which means you can have a little wander around while I’m still tweaking and adding to it. Think of it as a soft opening – like when a shop lets you peek inside before the grand launch.

The dream? To create a one-stop shop for the sewing community – somewhere to find bricks-and-mortar haberdashery stores, online shops, sewing classes and workshops, events, and anything else that makes life easier (and more fun!) for sewists. This is only Stage 1 – I’ve got plenty more in the pipeline, so keep your eyes peeled 👀.

I’ll be officially soft launching in just a few weeks, and I’d love for you to take a look in the meantime. Your feedback means the world, and who knows – you might even spot a class or shop you hadn’t discovered before.

It’s been years in the making, fuelled by fabric, determination, and fizz 🍾 – and I can’t wait to see where it goes next. So please do pop over to Haberdasheroo and have a nosy. I’d love to hear what you think 💕.
